Publication Rights

The publication rights of the articles in the Turkish Journal of Islamic Studies are regulated by the Declaration of Transfer of Financial Rights, which is to be signed by the authors following the decision of the Editorial Board to publish. Accordingly:

The author transfers and assigns to İSAM the rights of processing, reproduction, distribution, rental and public lending, direct and indirect representation, public transmission, providing public access, publication and re-publication/transmission, editorial, promotional, merchandising, and format rights arising from any type of work. In addition, the author declares that the article is an original work and that no rights of third parties exist on it; the author accepts and undertakes that any compensation or other legal liabilities that may arise in case third parties assert rights over all or part of the article shall be their own responsibility.

The author undertakes and agrees not to post the version of the work published in the Turkish Journal of Islamic Studies on any personal, institutional, or other website, sharing platform, or any social media or messaging application within twenty-four (24) months from its publication. However, the author may share the first two (2) pages of the PDF version of the published work across all the aforementioned digital and social media platforms, following its release by İSAM.

The author may subsequently republish the work in a printed book or in a compilation for which they serve as the chief editor, without the twenty-four (24) month restriction, provided that such republication complies with academic citation and ethical standards, and provided that İSAM is informed in advance. Republishing the work in a publication belonging to or edited by third parties requires İSAM’s prior permission.

Moral rights remain with the author. Additionally, the author has the right to obtain a link provided by İSAM granting free access to the version of the work registered on the Turkish Journal of Islamic Studies website, to use the work for educational purposes, to archive it, and to request a copy of the original journal issue in which the work was published.

İSAM shall not pay any copyright fee to the author for the work published in the journal, regardless of the type of publication. However, in the event that the work is included in a compilation, book, or other publication by İSAM, the matter of copyright may be renegotiated between İSAM and the author, and a new arrangement may be made.
