Responsibilities of Authors

  • To prepare their studies in accordance with the principle of scientific accuracy and within the framework of academic ethical rules.
  • To submit studies that have not been published anywhere before or are not simultaneously in the evaluation process of another journal.
  • To declare the contribution rates of the authors in a clear, transparent, and accurate manner.
  • To cite all sources used during the research and writing process completely and accurately.
  • To declare existing conflict of interests within the scope of the study.
  • To remove any information that could reveal the author’s identity from the article text and additional files, as a requirement of the double-blind peer review process.
  • To fulfill the revisions requested by the editor or reviewers within the specified timeframes without compromising scientific accuracy and integrity.

  • Responsibilities of Reviewers

    • To accept the review invitation only if it is directly related to their field of expertise and if they can allocate the necessary time.
    • To evaluate the examined studies in an impartial manner, with confidentiality, and in line with the principles of academic honesty; providing constructive, developmental, and scientific-contribution-enhancing feedback.
    • To provide concrete and detailed opinions regarding the originality, scientific contribution level, methodological adequacy, linguistic accuracy, and compliance of the study with citation rules.
    • Not to use information obtained during the review process for personal gain and not to share it with third parties in any way.
    • To complete the evaluation process within the timeframes foreseen by the journal.
    • To immediately notify the editor and withdraw from the review duty in case of a conflict of interest regarding the study.

    • Responsibilities of Editors

      • To manage publication policies in a transparent manner and in accordance with ethical and scientific standards.
      • To decide whether the articles are suitable for the publication principles and format of the Journal of Islamic Studies in terms of both originality and thematic/formal characteristics.
      • To direct the articles to appropriate reviewers after passing them through a preliminary evaluation.
      • To keep reviewer and author identities confidential.
      • To conduct the evaluation process impartially and avoid conflict of interests.
      • To make decisions based on scientific contribution, taking reviewer reports into consideration.
      • To manage the communication between authors and reviewers.
      • To initiate the necessary correction/retraction process if plagiarism, ethical violations, or errors are detected in published articles.

      • Responsibilities of the Editorial Board

        • To determine the general publication policy of the journal.
        • To attend board meetings held periodically.
        • To provide opinions via e-mail regarding articles when necessary.
        • To make decisions toward publication or rejection by evaluating the submitted articles in light of reviewer reports and responses from the author.
        • To decide in which issue the articles to be published will take place.

        • Responsibilities of the Advisory Board

          • To monitor the general progress of the journal.
          • To generate guiding ideas regarding the publication policy of the journal.

          • Responsibilities of Publishers

            • To conduct the publication process in accordance with international ethical standards.
            • To provide clear, transparent, and up-to-date information on the journal’s website.
            • To provide the necessary software and infrastructure to ensure the impartiality and confidentiality of the peer-review process.
            • To provide tools that support academic integrity, such as plagiarism detection software.
            • To develop policies that will protect the rights of authors, reviewers, and editors.
